The LocAL Series: Simpeo simplifies life for customers by partnering with Shipt and Wyndy

Patrick Cooney and Blake Patterson, Co-founders of Simpeo.

This is part two of three of our LocAL series showcasing successful partnerships between Birmingham companies and startups.

Simpeo, a Birmingham-based startup, is not only saving their customers both money and time, but also giving them back their freedom to focus on the important aspects of growing their business.

With Simpeo, companies of any size join a professional employer organization (PEO) which enables them to cost-effectively outsource the management of human resources, employee benefits, payroll and workers’ compensation at prices they wouldn’t get if they operated alone. On average, Simpeo saves their customers 26% on these costs, amounting to $450 per employee saved annually.

The good news doesn’t stop there; Simpeo is a community-oriented business committed to helping Birmingham’s growth. Both Co-founders of Simpeo, Blake Patterson and Patrick Cooney, are Birmingham natives and are purposefully seeking ways to work with local companies. Last year, they partnered with Shipt and Wyndy to offer discounts for each service in their employee benefit packages. Shipt provides personal shopping and delivery from a variety of grocery, household essentials, and pet & office supply retailers, and Wyndy is a platform that connects families to college students for babysitting opportunities.

A normal Shipt annual membership costs $99, but employees enrolled in one of Simpeo’s PEOs have access to a discounted $29 annual membership. Employees can also get 2 hours free with their first Wyndy babysitter. Patterson hopes the affordable prices will encourage customers to try new local services to use on a consistent basis.

Patterson commented, “Partnering with local companies like Shipt and Wyndy is a win-win; we are providing our customers and their employees with a great benefit while also bringing awareness to local companies.”

Patterson and Cooney believe the timing of their partnerships was serendipitous given the increased demand for contact-free services like grocery delivery during COVID-19. Cooney said, “We are so lucky that we can offer local services at affordable prices to employees who need them now more than ever. Companies like Shipt and Wyndy are solving some of the biggest challenges for working families, and it makes us incredibly happy we can provide those services to our customers’ employees during this time.”

Simpeo is changing what it means to not only care for their customer’s happiness, but also their community’s success by having it intertwined in all aspects of their business.
